Tree Life Centre
The Tree Life Centre is a community tree nursery based at
Grimsbury Farm in Kingswood. Volunteers are involved in
propagating native British trees, shrubs and wildflowers. Jobs
vary according to the season and can involve seed collecting and
processing, mulching, formative pruning, planting, watering and
other associated nursery tasks. The Tree Life Centre involves
people from a wide range of backgrounds including people with
learning disabilities, people with mental health issues, people
who are long term unemployed and anyone who is interested in
learning more about trees and wildflowers.
We are open to volunteers from Monday-Thursday (10am - 4:30pm)
and people are encouraged to visit for an initial ‘taster’
volunteer day.
Home Library Service
We are looking for volunteers to work from our Kingswood, Staple
Hill and Cadbury Heath libraries: our volunteers visit people
who are unable to use their local library - because of
disability, frailty or responsibility as a full time carer - to
• deliver a selection of books, information and other library
materials direct to the homes of library members who are
housebound and
• help to select books and other library materials for the
people they visit.
VVolunteers help to provide an important service which is greatly
appreciated by its users. In return we offer training and advice
before new volunteers start visiting readers and on-going
support in your voluntary work plus the opportunity to meet
other volunteers, learn more about libraries and about any new
initiatives which could affect the Home Library Service.
